LMR twin turbo Corvette - GM's Wind Tunnel Video
Wind tunnel testing at GM's test facility. This is the record holder for a standing mile at 231mph. They are testing it to get the car ready for the next Texas Mile in October 2011.

Thanks. I was ...
Thanks. I was subtly insulting GM. They have the knowledge to make the most aerodymic cars. Yet they aim for class average or? style over function. New GM seems to be doing better
The smoke helps to ...
The smoke helps to visualize the airflow around the car since we can't normally see the air. It helps us see where the airflow gets turbulent as it moves over and around the car like when it hits the rear? view mirrors.
I think the reason ...
I think the reason might be that the drag is being created by parts adding downforce for stability.?
the A2 wind tunnel ...
the A2 wind tunnel in South Carolina is $390/hr for the first two hours, and $490/hr thereafter. Very worth it! Hot Rod Magazine got a 1980 Chevrolet Camaro from a Cd of 0.498 down to 0.201 in just a few hours!? Makes me wonder why the Corvette is still at 0.28 with over 400 hours in the wind tunnel.
Cool! Very Cool ! ?

Last I heard, a wind tunnel test is $2,000/hr. ? Expensive but worth it.

The rubber at the ...
The rubber at the back wheels gives it away that this Z06 is all business.?
Because that would ...
Because that would be beyond pointless. It would never hook. Look at their Camaro, it spins wildly throughout the mile and that's at near 1800rwhp. It's ran the same speed as? a Supra with almost 500rwhp less.
Well since you ...
Well since you have? found out the aero package to run why don't you just kick the horsepower up with a 670ci prolineracing twin 94mm turbo motor puttin out 4000+ hp that will get you 300+mph all day in the standingmile
Hey? so did they ...
Hey? so did they put the Zr1 lip side skirts and spoiler? And if so did this help? Also is that a new rear diffuser? Looks pretty interesting to say the least.
Actually, the ZR1? ...
Actually, the ZR1? was supposed to be twin turbo until GM was approached by Eaton with their newly built supercharger which is now used on the ls9
Chevy doesn't do ...
Chevy doesn't do twin turbo bro haha, just raw? v8s with an occasional super charger.
Well? it looks like ...
Well? it looks like to me that GM should reconsider making that 3 liter 400 horsepower twin turbo, mid-engine, high revving Corvette. Anyone else feel like me?
you want smooth ...
you want smooth airflow with no buffering, the tunnel basically allows you to see how the air flows over the car. and if any body panel is causing distortion of the airflow. distortion = drag, drag? = bad
